Thief Poses As Handyman In Miami

One Miami thief could have easily passed for a handyman with his white hardhat, goggles and dangling cigarette, according to Miami police.

MIAMI, FL — With his white hardhat, goggles and dangling cigarette, one Miami thief could have easily passed for a handyman, according to Miami police, who released video Thursday of the man helping himself to a commercial intercom. The device was taken from an office building at 2490 SW 22 Street. The theft occurred around 4 a.m. on June 24.

"The victim stated that she left her place of business on June 23, 2018, at 1 p.m. and returned the following morning, June 24, 2018, at approximately 4:30 a.m.," explained Officer Kiara Delva of the Miami Police Department. "Upon returning, she realized that the front door intercom was ripped off from the wall of the building."

Surveillance video shows the man casually walk up to the intercom, open a lock box and remove the intercom from from the wall as if it were his everyday job.

Officer Kiara Delva of the Miami Police Department told Patch that the phony handyman even had a master key to the lock box that housed the intercom.

He is described as a white male with a goatee and was last seen wearing a white long-sleeved shirt with gray cargo shorts and black shoes.
