1. A North Miami Beach condominium building was evacuated Monday after it was deemed to be structurally unsafe, city officials said. The owners of Bayview 60 Homes at 3800 Northeast 168th Street requested the city order an immediate evacuation of residents from the five-story building, the city said in a statement. Owners were repairing units since July in advance of the building's upcoming 50-year recertification inspections. (NBC Miami)
2. Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue responded to a collision involving a Brightline train and a grey sedan in Hallandale Beach on Monday at around 3 p.m. .The incident occurred at Southwest 11th Street and the railroad tracks near the Miami-Dade/Broward County line. (WSVN)
3. U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, along with U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, stopped at Cypress Bay High School in Weston on Monday to speak about the state of education. Cardona checked out the school’s career development programs, including the FBI Cyber Stem Academy. (CBS Miami)
4. Jury selection in the deadliest U.S. mass shooting to date to go to trial began Monday with preliminary screening for the panel that will determine whether Nikolas Cruz will be put to death for murdering 17 students and staff members at a Parkland, Florida, school. The prospective jurors were asked if they can put aside any animosity toward Cruz and judge the case fairly. (WSVN)
5. A fire erupted Monday at the Swap Shop & Thunderbird Drive-in Theater in South Florida's Lauderhill. The fire fight focused on screen number 5 at the theater. No injuries have been reported and an investigation is underway. (WPLG Local 10)
