Orchard Supply Hardware Store Closing Sale Underway In Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Store closing signs went up Thursday in all South Florida Orchard Supply Hardware stores one day after Lowe's abruptly announced plans to permanently shutter stores in Florida, California and Oregon. Sale signs could be seen in store windows and online as of Thursday morning.

"Certain things that I see are 10 percent. Certain things in electrical are 25 percent," a South Florida store employee told Patch on Thursday. "Everything in the store is at least 10 percent off right now."

Here are the locations of the company's South Florida stores:

• 15900 W. State Road 84 in Sunrise
• 2871 N Federal Highway in Ft. Lauderdale
• 2322 N. University Drive in Coral Springs
• 3810 West Hillsboro Blvd. in Deerfield Beach
• 340 S. Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach
• 510 Linton Blvd, Suite 120 in Delray Beach
• 525 Congress Ave in Boynton Beach

The company also has two stores in Orlando. North Carolina-based Lowe's purchased the small hardware chain in 2013. Click here to find your nearest Orchard Supply location.

The company said Wednesday that it intends to shutter all 99 Orchard stores nationwide by the end of the year. A Lowe’s spokesperson said the company plans to help employees during the transition.

"We will be retaining our associates through the store closure process and are encouraging them to apply for open roles at Lowe's stores, where they will receive priority status," an OSH spokesperson told Patch. "Associates will receive job placement assistance, and we will be providing eligibility for severance."
