  1. A South Florida nurse is facing charges after being accused of slapping an elderly patient with autism multiple times earlier this month, according to police. The incident happened at Memorial Hospital Pembroke in Pembroke Pines. The suspect is out of jail on a $5,000 bond. (WPLG Local 10)
  2. An investigation is underway after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Northwest Miami while walking across I-95 early Thursday morning, authorities said. The victim died at the scene. The incident happened near Northwest 79th Street, according to authorities. (NBC Miami)
  3. A South Florida mother is devastated after a 14-year-old girl was accidentally shot and killed in Opa-locka by her brother, according to authorities. The incident happened at Mirage at Sailboat Cove in the 14500 block of NW 17th Path. The family said they did not know a gun was inside the home. (CBS Miami)
  4. Former Miami Heat All-Star Dwyane Wade has filed new court papers defending his decision to ask a judge to allow his 15-year-old transgender daughter to change her name from Zion Malachi Airamis Wade to Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade. Wade is denying his ex-wife's allegations that he is filing the name change for himself and that he has full authority to make decisions on his daughter's behalf and that he notified his former wife ahead of the change.   5. The "Daiquiri Making Master Class" is happening on Sunday, Feb. 26, at SGWS Wynwood. It is part of the 2023 Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival (SOBEWFF) and will be hosted by Miami-based and Cuban-born, Giovanny "Gio" Gutierrez. Gutierrez will be joined by Cafe La Trova's Julio Cabrera. (Miami New Times)

Making the move to Fire Rescue with Recruit Class 99 in 2004, Kevin completed 31 years of service to Miami-Dade County on Wednesday, when he worked his final shift at Honey Hill Station 51. Surrounded by his family and crew mates, Kevin took the wheel of Engine 51 for the last time before beginning the next phase of his life.
