  1. An entire section of a neighborhood was blocked off by crime scene tape on Monday near Fort Lauderdale after a man was found shot by police. The man died on the scene and another victim was taken to the hospital. An investigation is now underway and anyone with information is asked to contact authorities. (WSVN)
  2. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order Friday activating the National Guard and directing state agencies to provide resources to prevent migrant landings after a recent influx of refugees landing in the Keys and South Florida. "Refugee arrivals require a lot of resources from the sheriff’s office as we help our federal law enforcement partners ensure the migrants are in good health and safe," said Sheriff Rick Ramsay.   3. Plum Market has opened its first Florida store in Miami's Aventura at 17801 Biscayne Blvd. The grocer now has 25 stores across the country and also offers a fast-casual food add-on. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. The first 100 guests to spend $100 will receive a limited-edition tote bag with swag. (Time Out Miami)
  4. A South Florida man was arrested after being accused of lewd conduct with an 11-year-old girl inside a Miami Home Depot store, according to police. The alleged incident happened at the Home Depot at 3030 Southwest 8th St. (NBC Miami)
  5. The Coconut Grove Business Improvement District (BID) is planning to celebrate its 150th anniversary with a number of events throughout 2023. "We'll focus on women’s history in March and will focus on the artist like the history of the art being a real strong undercurrent of Coconut Grove, and during the Coconut Grove Arts Festival we’ll focus on our time history," Cynthia Seymour, BID executive director.
