Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver In Fatal Crash

The crash occurred shortly after midnight Monday morning in the 11100 block of NW 7 Street​.

MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade police are asking for the public's help in finding the hit-and-run driver who killed a 60-year-old man on a scooter earlier this week. The crash occurred shortly after midnight Monday morning in the 11100 block of NW 7 Street.

Det. Lee Cowart of the Miami-Dade Police Department said that Jesus Fourcoy Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Cruz lived in the 12500 block of NW 11 Terrace.

"The victim was driving his scooter west on NW 7 Street and 111 Avenue, when he was rear-ended by an unknown vehicle," according to Cowart. "The driver of the vehicle fled the scene westbound without rendering aid to the victim."

Police released the following surveillance image of a car that was in the area at the time of the incident. They believe that the driver may have seen something that can help in the investigation. The possible witness was traveling in a light-colored, four-door sedan, possibly a Honda Civic.
