Here are the top stories today in Miami:

1. Residents at The Port Royale in Miami Beach located at 6969 Collins Ave. were forced to suddenly evacuate on Thursday after the structure was deemed unsafe. The development comes amid worries about structural issues across South Florida after the deadly Surfside condo collapse claimed nearly 100 lives in June 2021. (Miami Patch, WPLG Local 10)

2. A Wilton Manors man is facing charges after allegedly making a bomb threat inside a dentist’s office. The suspect is charged with making a false bomb report, aggravated assault, and criminal mischief, according to police. (WSVN)

3. A North Bay Village Commissioner has been convicted after authorities said she lied to see her lover. Julianna Clare Strout, 36, pled guilty to attempting to enter, and entering, a federal facility using fraud and false pretenses, according to U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida. She is sentenced to one year of probation and 50 hours of community service. (NBC Miami)

4. The Contessa grand opening in Miami's Design District included Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a VIP guest. NYC's Major Food Group has now opened Carbone, Sadelle's, and Dirty French. DeSantis is controversial for his support of Florida's so-called "Don’t Say Gay" bill and recent controversy allegedly sending migrants to Martha's Vineyard with Florida taxpayer funds. (Time Out Miami)

5. Noma Beach at Redfish is opening in mid-November with celebrity Chef Donatella Arpaia at the helm. The original Redfish suffered after damage from Hurricane Irma kept the restaurant closed for years and reopened in 2019 ahead of the pandemic. (Miami New Times)
