How do you know your graduating student nominee?
Grandson
Tell us why they deserve to be nominated!
My grandson should be recognized for overcoming academic barriers. My grandson was relocated back to Miami at the very beginning of his 9th grade year. He was a”B” Student. It was during COVID and he struggled with the transition and the at home learning while living with his mom. … I enrolled him in summer school and he passed 9th grade English with a “B”; leaving only 3 core subjects. I was advised it would be extremely difficult for him to make up 3 core subjects and graduate on schedule (2024).
I was told about an accredited private school that would give Tavarious the opportunity to graduate on schedule if he put in the work. … Tavarious received a financial scholarship for all 3 years, thanks to his mom; and the rest is history. Tavarious … passed with grades that allowed him to maintain a “B” average. He continued to work and last week took his cap & gown photo in preparation for high school graduation in early June. Because he was able to work at “his” pace he was able to succeed with teachers who encouraged him.
Today Tavarious has been accepted to 3 universities. I am so very proud of my grandson. He didn’t give up, stayed the course and will graduate on schedule and with a “B” average.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about your graduating student nominee?
He did not let unfavorable circumstances deny him. Delayed but not denied.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Tavarious Montgomery!
