Prehistoric Remains, Dwelling Found At FL Condo Tower Construction Site In Miami: Report
Developers found prehistoric human remains, ceremonial artifacts, possible dwelling at the site of a planned condo tower, reports said.
MIAMI, FL — After prehistoric human remains and ceremonial artifacts were found in 2021 at the site of a future 75-story condo tower planned in Miami’s Brickell area, archaeologists have also discovered evidence of a possible footprint of an ancient dwelling at the 4-acre parcel.
Additional remains and post holes, which indicate that the land once held a prehistoric structure, have recently been reported at the site, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Related Group and SH Hotels & Resorts plan to develop a luxury residential project under the Baccarat brand at the site. It’s unknown how these findings could impact the condo tower’s construction.

Miami’s acting city archaeologist and historic preservation planner said the discoveries at the construction site are evidence of the Tequesta Native American tribe that lived in the area more than 2,000 years ago.
The findings also make the land eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, according to reports.
