1. A planned 1,000-foot-long "Walkway of Peace" collaborative mural in Miami is inspired by a Ukrainian flag painted in Wynwood by Nina Chepovska of Seattle during her recent trip to South Florida. Originally from Ukraine, she said the painting was a tribute to her family. "I felt really good channeling all the emotion and pain I had through art," she said. (Miami Patch)
2. Miami-Dade County Parks' Redland Blues & Barbecue Festival returns to Preston B. Bird/Mary Heinlein Fruit & Spice Park on Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 24801 SW 187 Avenue in Homestead. Guests can enjoy award-winning BBQ by favorite food vendors, live blues music, kids’ activities, and full access to "the garden." Tickets are now available. (Miami's Community News)
3. A South Florida mother says she was scammed out of about $14,700 for rent based on a home listing that turned out to be fake and is now struggling to make ends meet. She says the payment was meant to cover the upfront move-in costs. The owner of the home says he was a victim of identity theft and never listed the property for rent. Hialeah Police detectives say they are looking into the case. (NBC Miami)
4. Cutler Bay voters have approved a $37 million general obligation bond to develop a park, community center and municipal complex. Now public meetings will begin to define the vision, including its features and amenities of the project. (Miami Today)
5. A crowd of Ultra Music Festival attendees crossed a drawbridge in Miami over the weekend while it was still moving, a video shows. The footage was first posted by 10News and in it dozens of people can be seen walking on the Brickell bridge as it was moving down to open up to pedestrians. "Don’t do that!" a woman can be heard saying and "That’s stupid." (Subscription: Miami Herald, Free: WPLG Local 10)
