1. A traveler at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport recently tried to sneak a gun on a plane by stuffing it in a raw chicken. Guns and ammunition must be declared when checking baggage at the ticket counter by law. Most passengers found with guns at TSA checkpoints end up arrested or are issued notices to appear in court, according to the news release. (Miami Patch)

2. Beaches in South Florida showed the strength of Tropical Storm Nicole on Wednesday evening. The storm is tumbling toward Florida. Beaches in Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Dania Beach and Deerfield Beach showed dark skies and choppy weather with plenty of wind blowing. Some people took it as a chance to hunt for treasure while the beach was empty. (WSVN)

3. Lobbyist Kevin Marino Cabrera won a runoff contest for Miami-Dade County Commission District 6 on Election Day. The nonpartisan race was battled by two Republicans for one of the most powerful seats in South Florida. Over $3 million was spent in the race combined. (Florida Politics)

4. Pundits say that Miami-Dade's days as a Democratic stronghold appear to be over after Tuesday's midterm election rout that saw record support for Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio. Both candidates skated to victory by early Tuesday evening. (NBC Miami)
