Here are the top stories in Miami today:

  1. A group of midsize banks across the country, with several members throughout Florida, has asked federal regulators to fully insure all deposits for the next two years, according to a report from Bloomberg. City National Bank of Florida in Miami joined the banks in calling for federal help. The news comes amid record instability in the banking industry following the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. (Florida Patch)
  2. The first tower of the River District in Brickell has reached level 30 of construction, according to a contractor. The upcoming district will "create a riverwalk experience for the first time in the city." The development will include 1,600 residences, parking, and more. (The Next Miami)
  3. Miami Beach is once again struggling to control spring break crowds and violence. It is the third year in a row that Miami fails to control crowds and experiences gun violence and fights. A massive police presence, complete with mobile towers, has failed to make a difference in violence, with a curfew proposed in the area this week after two shootings. (WSVN)
  4. Anatomy and BÜNDA, two new businesses, are debuting at CityPlace Doral this month. "Anatomy and BÜNDA supplement our health and wellness offerings and bring a new and dynamic workout experience to our guests," said Mauro Olivieri of CityPlace Doral. Both businesses are already open. CityPlace Doral features more than 40 dining, shopping and entertainment destinations for visitors to enjoy. (Miami's Community News)
  5. A Hialeah man is facing numerous criminal charges after police said he ran an illegal towing business with an accomplice and stole parts from a car in a Homestead hotel parking lot. Charges include burglary and grand theft, as well as towing a vehicle without commercial markings and failing to maintain or produce records regarding a towing business. (WPLG Local 10)
