WESTON, FL — A search team located the body of a 1-year-old Tampa boy Thursday along a stretch of Alligator Alley after the child was thrown from his family's Nissan Frontier pickup truck when it was catapulted off the road with a blown tire, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

"This vehicle swerved into the right, went into the canal and rolled over several times," Lt. Yanko Reyes of Florida Highway Patrol told reporters at the crash site along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 75 near milemarker 27 in Broward County.

Three other children, ages 4, 8 and 10, suffered minor injuries in the crash, but two adult women, ages 31 and 56, suffered serious injuries. The 33-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries.
