Tanker Truck Explodes Near I-595: Driver Killed, Highway Closes

Smoke could be seen for miles as Hazmat crews rushed to the explosion site in Davie.

DAVIE, FL — A driver was killed when a gasoline tanker exploded near Interstate 595 and Davie Road Sunday afternoon, the Sun-Sentinel has reported, citing officials with the Davie Fire Rescue. Black smoke could be seen for miles after the explosion, with flames visible to drivers on I-595.

The fatal victim had not been identified as of 6:45 p.m.

I-595 was closed in both directions as Hazmat units responded.
