Tom Brady’s ‘Retirement Sand’ Sells For Thousands On Ebay
Two weeks after the NFL star said he's retiring from football, sand from the FL beach where he made his announcement is selling on eBay.

SURFSIDE, FL — Two weeks after Tom Brady announced his second — and final — retirement from the NFL in a video filmed on a Surfside beach and shared widely on social media, jars of sand allegedly from that beach are selling on eBay.
A search for “Tom Brady’s retirement sand” on the online auction website Monday morning yields more than 100 active auctions. Several entrepreneurial sellers are asking as much as $25,000 for the bottled sand that sellers claim to be from the exact beach where the seven-time Super Bowl winner shared his retirement news on Feb. 1.
There’s also one seller asking for $25,000 for “an empty jar that is not full of sand from Tom Brady’s exact retirement spot.” Another seller is auctioning a drawing of sand from the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback’s retirement announcement spot for $100 or best offer.

One seller, local Charles Ortiz, told the Miami Herald that when he saw the football great’s video, he knew where it was recorded in Surfside because he recognized the buildings in the background, including the Grand Beach Hotel Surfside.
“I saw people were selling water from Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom after it closed, so crazier things have happened,” the North Miami Beach native said. “So, I picked up a jar and a newspaper from Publix to get the day’s date and went over there to the site.”
Though his listing garnered a lot of attention — more than 300,000 views and nearly 5,000 people watching it over several days — eBay eventually took it down for not “following item description policy,” he said.
In January 2022, Brady, who played for the New England Patriots before coming to Florida, announced for the first time that he would retire from professional football.
By March, the star quarterback changed his mind, announcing he would return to the NFL for his 23rd season and rejoin the Buccaneers.
In October, Brady and his former wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, divorced after 13 years of marriage.
Before they split up, at the end of 2020, the couple purchased a lot with a teardown on the exclusive Indian Creek Island in the Miami area — nicknamed the “Billionaire’s Bunker” — for $17 million. There are just 34 properties on the island, which is home to the likes of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
Despite their divorce, construction has continued on the mansion and Brady is likely to move there in his retirement, according to the U.S. Sun.
In November, Bündchen bought her own $11.5 million mansion nearby on Indian Creek Island, Page Six reported. She and Brady have two children together.
