1. United Way Miami kicked off Miami Art Week with a new installation called "Miami Octopus." The artist said the work represents strength in the community and discussed how local residents are "being evicted because they can’t afford to live here anymore." (WSVN)

2. Miami-Dade police are investigating a shooting that left a teenager from the football team at North Miami High School dead Tuesday afternoon. The incident was reported on Sierra Drive in northwest Miami-Dade County. (WPLG Local 10)
3. Broward County's new Mayor Lamar Fisher was sworn in on Tuesday, replacing Michael Udine. Fisher previously served as vice mayor. Both the mayor and vice mayor serve one-year terms in one year. (WSVN)
4. Incoming District 6 Chair Kevin Cabrera has condemned Florida International University (FIU) for inviting an author to speak about her new book examining the benefits granted in immigration law to Cubans who immigrated to the United States. The book author said she is shocked by the criticism. The law that allowed Cubans to achieve citizenship by reaching the country was rescinded by President Barack Obama in 2016. (NBC Miami)
5. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has named Republican candidate Robert Gonzalez to the Miami-Dade County Commission. Gonzalez will replace Joe Martinez in District 11, with Martinez arrested in August for allegedly accepting illegal bribes. (Florida Politics)
