MIAMI, FL — UPS drivers from as far away as the United Kingdom and across the United States participated in a moment of silence for a fallen South Florida driver who was killed in a hail of gunfire last week when police opened fire on his hijacked truck along a busy Florida highway.

Fellow drivers, including those from rival Federal Express, have been posting photos of their trucks with #Frank scrawled on the backs.

They are honoring UPS driver Frank Ordonez, who was one of four people killed Thursday along with the two suspects who took him hostage and a bystander caught in the crossfire when police got into a shootout on Miramar Parkway, east of Flamingo Road in Broward County. Ordonez was being laid to rest Tuesday following an emotional farewell from his family and Miami area drivers.

His family blames the police for firing on the stolen UPS truck without an apparent plan to rescue Ordonez.

At least two separate GoFundMe pages had raised a total of $215,000 as of Tuesday to help Ordonez's two young daughters, ages 3 and 5.

"Every step he took was for his daughters. He wanted to give them the best future and for them to never need anything from others. He wanted to be their provider," Ordonez's sister, Sara, said in one of the GoFundMe pages.

"He didn't deserve to die the way he did. He was just going to work to provide for his two little girls, which he loved so much, which are now left without a father," Roy Ordonez, Frank's brother, said in another GoFundMe.
