A firefighter removed a snake from a Miami-Dade County home.
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — A firefighter skillfully removed a Burmese python during a call to a home near the 28000 block of SW 141st Street. (Watch a video of the snake’s removal below.)
Capt. Rusty Shaw responded to the home and safely captured the python, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue shared in a Facebook post.
“The Burmese python is one of South Florida’s most destructive invasive species. First introduced through the exotic pet trade, these snakes have thrived in the Everglades and are increasingly found in suburban neighborhoods. While they rarely pose a danger to adults, they can threaten domestic pets and continue to impact native wildlife,” MDFR wrote.
