1 Killed, 1 Injured In Miami Beach Shooting: Police

On Sunday, the city of Miami Beach announced a state of emergency and curfew, citing the overnight shooting and another shooting Friday.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — One person is dead, a second is injured and a third is arrested after an overnight shooting in Miami Beach, according to police, who characterized the deadly violence as “a targeted and isolated incident.”

Officers heard gunfire around 3:30 a.m. Sunday near 11th Street and Ocean Drive, and found a male with gunshot wounds in the area, police said. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital but later died, according to police, who said a second victim was treated and released on-site.

The third person was arrested in the 1200 block of Washington Avenue after a foot chase, and that person’s gun was found at 12th Street and Collins Avenue, police said, adding a firearm was also discovered on one of the victims.

On Sunday, the city of Miami Beach announced a state of emergency and curfew, citing the overnight shooting and another shooting Friday, as well as "excessively large and unruly crowds." The curfew will start 11:59 p.m. Sunday and end 6 a.m. Monday. Roads or traffic patterns within the curfew area may be closed or rerouted.

The city will hold a special commission meeting Monday to discuss restrictions moving forward.
