2 Miami Pizzerias Among Best In World, International Ranking Says

MIAMI — Two Miami restaurants have been named among the top 50 pizzerias in the world in a new international ranking. Website 50TopPizza recently published its "Guide to the Best Pizzerias in the World."

Among the top 50 in the list were Miami's La Leggenda (No. 45) and 'O Munaciello (No. 55).

Located at 224 Española Way, La Leggenda serves Neapolitan dishes to Miami Beach residents and visitors. It is led by founder and world pizza champion Giovanni Gagliardi.

La Leggenda boasts appetizers such as bruschette alla contadina, melazane alla parmigiana and crocche di patate. Various pastas and Napolitan special sandwiches are available. Customers can order vegan options.

Dozens of toppings fill a diverse list for La Leggenda's pizzas, and the eatery hosts a range of desserts that include Nutella pizza.

With two Miami locations, 'O Munaciello is headed up by an owner listed on the company website as Valentina. A self-proclaimed restaurant of passion, 'O Munaciello also has a location in Florence, Italy.

Its Miami sites are 6425 Biscayne Blvd. and 2250 Coral Way. Pizza lovers can order Margherita, Calabrese, vegetarian, Napoli and quattro formaggi pies at 'O Munaciello.

Specialty pizzas include the Las Vegas, ricotta and salame, Maradona and Vesuvio. Antipasti dishes - the first course in traditional Italian meals - are Frittura di Mare, Tartare di Tonnoand Carpaccio di Carne.

Una Pizza Napoletana in New York City, New York is the top best pizzeria worldwide, coming in at No. 1 on the 50TopPizza compilation. Other noted pizzerias included Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco, California (No. 6), Ribalta in New York City (No. 19), Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland, Oregon (No. 27) and Jay's Artisan Pizza in Kenmore, Kentucky (No. 28).
