Tragedy Strikes Miami Beach Family Reunion

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A family reunion on Miami Beach ended in tragedy Saturday with the apparent drowning of a 55-year-old man. The incident happened at the 82 Street beach. The victim was identified as Anthony Waiters of Miami-Dade County.

“Mr. Waiters was at his girlfriend’s family reunion at a nearby pavilion,” Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department told Patch on Sunday morning.

Rodriguez said that the next of kin had already been notified as of Sunday morning.

“An official cause of death will be issued once an autopsy is completed this week,” Rodriguez added.
