North Miami Beach Cop Arrested For Kicking Pregnant Woman

An off-duty North Miami Beach police officer was arrested late Wednesday night after allegedly kicking a "visibly pregnant" woman.

MIAMI BEACH, FL β€” An off-duty North Miami Beach police officer was arrested late Wednesday night after allegedly kicking a "visibly pregnant" woman in the stomach. The victim gave birth a short time later, according to Miami Beach police. The altercation took place outside a popular restaurant on tourist-favorite Espanola Way.

"The victim was transported to Mount Sinai hospital," explained Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department. "At last check, she delivered a healthy baby."

North Miami Beach Police Officer Ambar Pacheco was charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant victim, according to court documents.

"The defendant stated that the victim's boyfriend kicked her sister in the face. She then stated 'I saw red,'" court documents explained.

Miami Beach police said the victim, who was due on Aug. 4, appeared to go into labor.

"I observed the victim to be in severe pain in her abdomen region and possibly having contractions," the responding officer wrote.

Miami Beach Fire Rescue took the victim to Mount Sinai Medical Center, where she delivered her baby "shortly upon arrival," according to court documents.

"The defendant later stated that 'she doesn't know who, but she kicked somebody," court documents said of the North Miami Beach officer.
