3 Serious Injuries After Pickups Crash Into Holiday Home

A Thursday afternoon crash in Holiday sent three people to the hospital and caused about $20,000 damage to a home.

HOLIDAY, FL — Three people were hospitalized with serious injuries after two vehicles crashed into a Holiday home Thursday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Angel Medina, 48, of Tampa was driving a Dodge pickup south on Normandy Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. Dec. 29. At that time, a Toyota pickup driven by Michael Samartino, 52, was heading west on Holiday Lakes Drive, approaching Normandy Boulevard.

Medina failed to stop for the sign at the Normandy Boulevard intersection, a highway patrol report said. When his Dodge entered the intersection, troopers say it struck the Toyota. Both vehicles were propelled into a home in the 1200 block of Normandy Boulevard, the report said.

The crash caused about $20,000 damage to the home, the agency estimated.

Medina and his passenger, Victor Medina, 52, of Tampa, both suffered serious injuries. Samartino was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

No one inside the home was injured, the highway patrol confirmed Friday morning. Initial reports indicated that residents had been injured in the crash along with the motorists.

Troopers cited Angel Medina for running the stop sign.
