67 Arrested During Traffic Checkpoint Operation

Six arrests for DUI were made during the effort.

Law enforcement officers completed 67 arrests after stopping drivers on U.S. 19 during a recent multi-agency DUI checkpoint operation.

Officers stopped 1,034 vehicles during the effort. Six DUI arrests were made. The other 61 arrests were related to criminal or traffic offenses, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. 

The Florida Highway Patrol organized the DUI checkpoint at the Southgate Shopping Center, 5127 U.S. 19, New Port Richey. The effort started at 8 p.m. Friday and ended at 2 a.m. Saturday.

The Florida Highway Patrol, New Port Richey Police Department, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Dade City Police department and Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary teamed up for the effort to complete a “targeted”  and “assertive” program to cut down on drinking and driving.
