Cloudy Skies Greet Voters

The skies were overcast as the sun rose on Election Day and rain fell on New Port Richey, but voters still came out to the polls.

Voters trickled into the precinct polls at the precinct 25 polls at the New Port Richey Recreation Center and the precinct 60 polls at the Finnish-American Club on Madison Street in New Port Richey.

Lines were relatively short, although the parking lot at the Finnish-American Club was filling up fast and people were parking at curbs.

Voters shouldn’t ditch their raincoats or umbrellas just yet. It’s possible showers will continue through 10 a.m., and there’s also a possibility of a thunderstorm during that time period, according to the National Weather Service. A chance of rain continues through, 1 p.m., according to the NWS.

However, meteorolist Todd Barron said we should see conditions dry up later today.

“All this rain is moving through pretty quickly,”  Barron said. “It should be out of the area by early to mid-afternoon.”
