Here are things to know to get involved in your community and help others.

1.     We’re still enduring one hot summer, and the heat index will make it feel like 99 degrees today. The actual temperature will be around 91, and there  could be scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon.

2.     Hurricane Irene missed Florida, but many in the northeast were not so lucky. Find out how you canhelp.
