Holiday Library Room To Be Dedicated To Longtime Volunteer

Jane Colin was known for bringing her beloved Labradoodles to the Centennial Park Library to help children read.

HOLIDAY, FL – While longtime volunteer Jane Colin is gone, her memory will live on at the Centennial Park Library.

Pasco County Libraries will dedicate a meeting room at the Centennial Park Library, 5740 Moog Road, to Colin on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 3:30 p.m. Colin, who passed away April 2, was a major part of the library system’s PAWS for Friendship program.

The PAWS for Friendship program provides certified, registered pets to libraries and classroom to help children develop better reading skills. According to various research, children who struggle to read are more relaxed when reading to dogs, who have a calming effect.

Colin was often seen with her two labradoodles, Rosie and Hershey, at the Centennial Park Library. According to Pasco County Libraries, Colin and her popular pups helped numerous children become better readers.

“Jane gave tirelessly, and with this spirit came great humility and encouragement to continue her work as long as possible,” said Dr. Cliff Colin, Jane’s husband. “Through her convictions and boundless love of her dogs, Jane succeeded in making this a better world.”
