PASCO COUNTY, FL — All lanes of Interstate 75 in Pasco County have reopened following a bomb squad investigation in the area, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

An item was found on the shoulder of the I-75 southbound exit leading to State Road 52 by Florida Department of Transportation contractors, prompting the highway’s closure.

Bomb squad experts with the state and the Tampa Police Department responded to the scene to review and safely remove the item, which seemed to be a potential explosive device, FHP said.

State explosive experts will conduct additional testing on the item.
