Man Accused of Sex Abuse in Holiday Extradited from Oklahoma

Arrested was Anthony McWhirter, 50.

A man accused of sexually abusing an adoescent was indicted from Oklahoma overnight and booked into jail in Pasco County Wednesday.

The victim was 11 years old at the time of the abuse, according to Kevin Doll, spokesman for Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. The abuse happened in Holiday, he said.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office was told of the crime in October 2006, according to Doll. A warrant was issued in 2007.

The victim was abused more than once.

Doll said he could only surmise the man has been on the run since then.

The man was living in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was arrested in Oklahoma and then brought to Pasco.

Arrested was Anthony McWhirter, 50. McWhirter is now in Land O’ Lakes Jail. He has been charged with sexual battery by a person 18 over on a person 12 or younger, lewd or lascivious battery and lewd and lascivious molestation by a person 18 or over on a person 12 or younger.

His bail is set at $175,000.
