Man Crossing Street Dies After Being Hit By Van: FL Highway Patrol

A Wesley Chapel man who didn't obey a pedestrian walk signal was hit and killed by a van Friday morning, FL Highway Patrol said.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — A man crossing Bruce B. Downs Boulevard was hit and killed by a van Friday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The 33-year-old Wesley Chapel man didn’t obey a pedestrian walk signal when he crossed the road at the intersection of Aronwood Boulevard just after 4 a.m., FHP said.

The van, driven by a 51-year-old Largo man, was traveling south on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard through a green traffic signal at the time of the crash.

The pedestrian died at the scene.
