Man Struck, Killed By Garbage Truck

A 48-year-old man said to have been lying down on a Hudson road was killed by a garbage truck early Monday morning.

HUDSON, FL — A 48-year-old Hudson man is dead following a Monday morning incident involving a garbage truck.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Armando Cuesta, 52, of Holiday was heading westbound on Maryland Avenue in Hudson, just west of Triton Terrace, around 4:45 a.m. Feb. 6. At that time, a man “for unknown reason, under dark and foggy weather conditions was laying in the westbound lane of Maryland Avenue,” a highway patrol report said.

Cuesta, the report said, struck the man, who died at the scene. Cuesta was driving a 2009 Mack truck meant for hauling trash.

The man’s name has not yet been released. Troopers say the crash remains under investigation with charges pending.
