Masquerade Ball in New Port Richey Benefits Wounded Warrior Project, Central Pasco Chamber

What’s a mother of six kids do to get more involved in the community?

If that mom is Lisa Rogers, she runs for honorary mayor and has a ball.

A masquerade ball, that is.

The Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce honorary mayor candidate will play host to masked revelers in New Port Richey on Friday, Feb. 1. 

“The crowd will be a mix of professionals looking to network and people just looking for a great party, “ Rogers said.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the chamber, with 10 percent of going to Roger’s charity of choice, The Wounded Warrior Project.

Both the chamber and her chosen charity are special to her, Rogers said.

“The chamber has helped me to blossom as an individual as well as a small business owner and I wanted a chance to be able to pay that back in some way," Rogers said. "Running for Honorary Mayor, for me, is not about winning, but about raising funds for an organization that has given so much to me."

As for the Wounded Warrior Project, Rogers, a registered nurse, said she comes from a family with a strong military background. Her oldest son recently joined the Air Force, as well.

“I have worked with veterans extensively and have been touched by many of them in a very personal way,” Rogers said. “I have seen firsthand the physical and psychological damage that these brave men and women have endured.”

The Masquerade Ball will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave. in New Port Richey. The event will feature hot hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, silent auction, best-dressed contest and a photographer.

“Attire for women is cocktail dress, evening gown or ball gown and mask. Men may wear a tuxedo or black suit with tie and a mask," she said.

Rogers is still accepting sponsorships for the event, as well as silent auction items, she said. Some sponsorships include free tickets to the event.
