McDonald’s To Host 7 Local Coffee with a Cop Events

The free events look to bring police officers together with the residents they serve in a neutral location.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – When tragedies happen, people often huddle together to offer words of comfort and reflection.

While its annual Coffee with a Cop events were already scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 4, McDonald’s of Tampa Bay is inviting people in the Tampa Bay area to come together for an open community discussion in light of the Las Vegas attack.

Seven area McDonald’s locations will host a Coffee with a Cop event from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with four area sheriff’s offices and one police department:

  • 1520 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office
  • 7003 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office
  • 13026 U.S. Highway 301, Dade City, with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office
  • 9121 Little Road, New Port Richey, with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office
  • 10727 State Road 54, New Port Richey, with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office
  • 11055 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office
  • 300 38th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, with the St. Petersburg Police Department

According to McDonald’s of Tampa Bay, the mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down barriers between police and the people they serve. Meeting at a neutral, safe location provides an opportunity for “real conversations about issues that matter the most to local restaurants.”

The McDonald’s franchisee said it also uses Coffee with a Cop as thank you to local law enforcement by hosting the events in their honor, especially for their recent efforts during and after Hurricane Irma.

The national Coffee with a Cop initiative is supported by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
