Meopta Chooses Trinity For High-Tech Manufacturing Plant

The photonics company is expected to create 47 new jobs in Pasco County.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – Meopta U.S.A. will open a new facility in western Pasco County, creating nearly 50 new jobs in the high-tech field of photonics.

The Pasco Economic Development Council announced it had successfully recruited the Hauppauge, New York, manufacturing company through a partnership with Pasco County government.

Meopta specializes in manufacturing and distributing of precision optics, including binoculars, and spotting and rifle scopes. The company also manufactures assemblies for the aerospace and medical industries, periscopes for tanks, prisms and optical mirrors.

“We are making a significant effort to grow the manufacturing industry sector in Pasco,” said Pasco County Commissioner Kathryn Starkey. “It’s great that Meopta U.S.A. pays above the county’s average wage; that’s what we need here.”

According to the Pasco EDC, Meopta will use the Pasco County Job Creation Incentive Funding Program to hire 47 new positions in advanced manufacturing. The Job Creation Incentive Funding Program gives cash payments to qualified companies for the number of positions created.

The 47 new jobs exceed the average Pasco County age by about 125 percent, or roughly $49,000 per year, according to the Pasco EDC.

The company will update and move into the formerly vacant building at 7826 Photonics Drive, New Port Richey. According to the Pasco EDC, Meopta expects to draw experienced job candidates from Pasco and surrounding counties.

“Pasco County has a long history in the photonics industry and our experienced and talented workforce makes Pasco County an attractive location for companies like Meopta,” said Bill Cronin, the president and CEO of Pasco EDC. “We are happy that Meopta has chosen Pasco County to grow their business.”
