Much To Do Downtown

See some of the art exhibited over the weekend.

Hudson resident Patty Reeves took a trip to Main Street over the weekend and captured some shots with her new camera. Read her words about some of the art she saw.

Saturday had two art happenings downtown: the Art Show and the Homemade Holiday Gifts Shop.

The Guild had several artists present with a wide selection of handmade jewelry, clay built pottery, paintings, cards and other items. The studio, which houses ongoing classes, and the main gallery were both filled with art.

The Progress Energy Gallery (6231 Grand Boulevard, New Port Richey) has created a Gift shop with selections created by local artists. Featured are hand loomed coats and ponchos, one of a kind fine art jewelry, thrown pottery, stained glass, metal sculpted art and holiday ornaments. I was at the Gallery for Saturday's show and noticed artists have priced their work seemingly aware of our economy. I found much of the pieces uniquely designed yet affordably priced.  The steady flow of browsers and buyers seemed pleased with their gift finds. The Gallery shop will run through the end of December.

I also learned that rehearsals are going on at the Richey Suncoast Theatre (6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey) for The Christmas Glitz. The brochure reads: "Another fun Christmas show with all the laughs & music that makes this show a sell out every year!"  Performances will be November 25-27 and December 2-4.
