Rockin' and Rollin' at the Library
Rockus Maximus preview gives sample of good jives .
If you went to juvenile section the South Holiday Library Saturday, you would have been audience to live performances of rock, metal and hip-hop.
Four bands and one solo act were rocking at a preview performance for Rockus Maximus XV, the Pasco County Library System's Battle of the Bands.
In addition, band members competed at the preview in a game of "Library Warrior," in which they were challenged to speed paint while dancing, drink coffee that they were told was brewed from meal worms (although it wasn't really) and other physical and mental challenges.

The four bands that played Saturday will meet again, along with four other bands, for the main Rockus Maximus concert event on March 23. The four bands that played in the preview concert Saturday were:
Members: Mat Henderson, Nicholas Almeida, Sean Wolsky, Tyler Wolsky, Kevin Linares

Solo artist Introvert performed hip-hop between acts.
The Rockus Maximus XV competition accepted bands that have a majority of members who were under 21. The bands come from Pasco or elsewhere in Florida.
The top winner of the main concert event will come away with $1,000 and 10 hours of free recording time at Morrisound Studio in Tampa.
There is also an online voting competition. The band who gets the most votes in the online competition will bring home a $500 gift card from Encore Music. A $250 card goes to the band with the second highest number of online votes.

The main battle takes place March 23, and Land O' Lakes and New Port Richey Patch editors will be among the judges. You can catch a preview concert at the Land O' Lakes Library on March 9 that will feature the other four bands that will be competing at the main event.
New Port Richey Patch and Land O’ Lakes Patch are both sponsors of the events along with Rasmussen College, Morrisound Recording and Encore Music.
