Toy Gun Prompted Pasco High School Shutdown: Sheriff

A Pasco County high school shut down briefly after reports of a weapon on campus, the sheriff's office said.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — After reports of a weapon on campus, Wesley Chapel High School shut down and was put on a “controlled campus status” on Wednesday afternoon, just for investigators to learn that the scare was over a toy gun, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office wrote in a social media post.

Deputies searching the campus found the toy gun in a bathroom, the agency said.

Normal school operations resume after it was found that there was no threat.
