West Pasco Man Dies Following I-275 Crash

Benjy Hurley, 36, died of injuries sustained after the pickup he was riding in rolled over.

A New Port Richey area resident has died of injuries he sustained in a recent vehicle crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Misty Dawn Gibson of New Port Richey was driving north on the entrance lane ramp to Interstate 275 in a Chevy S-10 pickup with Benjy Hurley, also of New Port Richey, in the passenger seat.

For an unknown reason, the truck traveled from the middle lane into the western grass median. Gibson lost control and the truck overturned more than once. Hurley was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck.

Gibson and Hurley were brought to St. Joseph’s Medical Center, where Hurley, 36, later died from his injuries. Gibson sustained serious injuries Tuesday but is listed as being in stable condition.
