$600,000 Raised In 1 Year For New Middle School Wing In New Tampa

NEW TAMPA, FL — Family of Christ Christian School celebrated the long-awaited opening of its new 4,728-square-foot middle school wing, a development with a valuation of more than $600,000, on Jan. 24 after raising all the fund in just one year.

In the 2020-21 school year, Family of Christ registered 173 students between kindergarten and eighth grade. The pandemic brought 198 students to the school for the 2021-22 school year. And with the recent expansion, the school is able to welcome 25 more already-registered new students for the 2022-23 academic year with space for more, giving the school an enrollment of 225 students.

“Today we celebrate the grand opening of our new building that will serve over 100 middle school students," said Jennifer Snow, principal of Family of Christ Christian School. "We are thankful to so many of you who have been with us every step of the way. We cherish your partnership and collaboration in all endeavors of our small-but-mighty Christian school. I cannot wait to see what God has planned as we continue to grow into the future.”

“This new building will provide middle schoolers with their own space and larger classrooms, which will enhance their learning experience,” said Angela Palmer, a Family of Christ middle school parent. “My son is excited to close out his seventh-grade year in the brand-new wing.”

The main focus of the new wing is to educate middle school students while enhancing day-to-day learning at Family of Christ by offering:

• Four new, spacious classrooms
• Two additional four-stall bathrooms
• 160 new lockers
• New meeting room
• Space for specials classes including art, music and Spanish.

The grand opening was celebrated with a school-wide chapel service, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication.

Family of Christ Christian School is located on a 46-acre wooded campus in New Tampa at 16190 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Family of Christ Christian School’s philosophy is to foster a Christ-centered educational environment in which children are provided the highest quality of Christian education.

The curriculum emphasizes academic skills balanced with Christian teaching of Biblical truths and how they apply to everyday living.

Academic and enrichment programs are planned for the child’s spiritual, mental, social, emotional and physical growth.
