Dry Start for New Tampa’s Week

Expect lots of sunshine.

This story was reported and written by Associate Regional Editor Sherri Lonon.

New Tampa residents feeling a little waterlogged from all the afternoon storms we’ve been getting might finally have a chance to wring out just a little.

“It’s looking like it’s going to be pretty dry,” said meteorologist Michael Lewis of the National Weather Service’s Ruskin office. “We’re happy for a little bit of a break.”

The chances for rain on Monday, Sept. 9, and Tuesday, Sept. 10, are low, in the 20-percent range, Lewis said. In fact, only isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected until Thursday when gray afternoon skies might once again make their return.

“Thursday and Friday will be the best chances for rain,” Lewis said.

Highs throughout the first half of the week should register in the low 90s with lows in the 70s. Temperatures are expected to drop a little – into the upper 80s – as those higher rain chances creep in toward the tail end of the week.
