Families Cool Down At New Tampa Twistee Treat

New Tampa family Chris Whitford, Evvie Whitford and James Spencer sat under an umbrella at the new Twistee Treat in New Tampa Thursday afternoon.
It was the first time they'd been to the new ice cream cone-shaped eatery, which opened a couple months ago.
"It's good," Chris Whitford said of his ice cream cone.
The family wasn't alone at the sweet shop Thursday. A steady stream of customers ordered treats at the walk-up window and the drive-thru between 2 and 3 p.m.
On National Ice Cream Day, which is Sunday, July 21, Twistee Treat is celebrating with a contest for customers. Guests will have the chance to win $25 gift cards by posting pictures or videos that display their love for ice cream on Instagram, according to Kelly Froelich, a Twistee Treat executive.
