Mom Charged With Child Abuse After Striking Youth With Belt

A 39-year-old Wesley Chapel mother was arrested after striking her child several times with a belt.
Mayra Ivette Stewart, of Stoney Hill Drive, was arrested early Monday, Aug. 26. She was charged with child abuse and domestic battery.

“The defendant admitted to striking the victim and stated she got out of control and continued to strike the victim even after she was asked to stop,” according to a Pasco County Sheriff’s complaint affidavit.
Stewart was released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail on $600 bond.
