Police Search for ‘Person of Interest’ in New Tampa Murder Case

Tampa police are looking for a “person of interest” in the murder of a Texas man that took place in New Tampa.

At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31, Reggie Reshawn Adams, 20, was involved in a disagreement in the parking lot of the McDonald’s at 19080 Bruce B Downs Blvd., according to police. He was chased south approximately 2.5 miles on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard near Interstate 75. There, he was shot in his 2005 black Dodge Magnum.

Adams lives in Texas but was visiting family and friends in Dade City, police said. His friends drove him to Pasco Regional Hospital in Dade City and dropped him off at 5:11 p.m. He died soon after from his injuries.

“Detectives have identified a person of interest in the shooting,” a Tampa Police Department media release states. “They believe the individual has information about the crime and detectives want to interview him. The person of interest is captured on video tape inside the McDonald’s before the shooting takes place.”

Anyone with information about the case can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS or text “CSTB” and a tip to 274637. A tip that leads to an arrest is eligible for a $1,000 cash reward.
