Zimmerman Not Guilty: New Tampa and Tampa Bay React

After two days of deliberation, the jury in George Zimmerman’s second-degree murder trial came back with a not guilty verdict.

Zimmerman, 29, was on trial for the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, 17, in the Sanford area. The death and subsequent trail created racial tensions and raised questions about Florida’s Stand Your Ground law.

Reaction on the New Tampa Facebook page was mixed:

• Kelly O'Connor Floyd Only in Florida can you admit to shooting an unarmed teenager and a jury will find you not guilty. 
• Drusila Rodriguez First Casey, now him... You can literally get away with murder in FL. 
  What a shame! 
• Christopher Curran This is why they originally did not charge him. They had no evidence and only charged him out of pressure. if there are any issues, its with the law, not the shooter 
• Heather Casson Weaver lucky for that POS Zimmerman - dead man cannot talk. 
• Heather Casson Weaver I think it is disgusting! 
• Janet Gainer Register-Lopez Justice is served--there was a reasonable doubt. 
• Karen Kolar Probst I am proud of those six women who were strong enough through all the adversity to see justice done. Sad for the Martin family, but watching just about every word of this trial, the state did not prove their case. 
• Timothy Driggers Florida blew it again. Zimmerman won't be able to get past this though. He will have to hide for the rest of his life.
