• 30-year-old man killed after vehicle strikes pole along SR-429 in Orange County, troopers say (clickorlando.com) — A fatal single-vehicle crash on SR-429 near Ocoee Apopka Road killed a 30-year-old Winter Garden man Monday afternoon, according to state troopers. The northbound Nissan Sentra left the roadway near mile marker 29 and struck an electric pole. This was the second deadly crash on SR-429 in Orange County that day, and the investigation continues.

Here's what experts found (clickorlando.com) — Central Florida residents, including those in Ocoee, may be relieved to learn new University of Florida research suggests common local mosquitoes are poor spreaders of “Sloth Fever.” While travel-related cases dropped sharply this year, scientists are now testing whether Florida’s no-see-ums can transmit the virus, helping refine future public health guidance for our region.
