City Of Orlando Celebrates Grand Opening Of RISE Employment

ORLANDO, FL - City of Orlando, in partnership with CareerSource Central Florida, opened and launched the new RISE Employment & Training Program Office on June 1 to ensure Orlando's residents have equitable access to opportunities for job training, coaching, and support services to measurably increase their employability. 

This new office provides by-appointment, in-person assistance to connect residents to job training and employment opportunities along with comprehensive wrap-around services including social services and case management to help participants succeed on their new career path.

"In Orlando, it is our goal to be a city where everyone feels equally valued and has equal opportunities to thrive," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

"While the pandemic may have exacerbated employment challenges for some of our residents, the RISE Employment & Training Program will ensure that anyone who wants to pursue a new job or training program has the opportunity to do so and the support they need to succeed on that journey."

The RISE Employment & Training Program is hosted in partnership with the region’s official workforce agency, CareerSource Central Florida which will offer program participants connections with the agency’s extensive system of employers, skills training partners and apprenticeship programs, as well as access to scholarships.

“At CareerSource Central Florida, we are delighted to partner alongside the City of Orlando supporting the RISE Program and to help fill workforce needs in our local community and with local employers," said CareerSource Central Florida President and CEO Pam Nabors.

"Our dedicated and expert staff and career coaches will be onsite at RISE to assist job seekers on their career journey as we look to continue making a positive impact on our city and economy."

Benefits of the program include CareerSource Central Florida’s network of more than 100 job and vocational training programs, an opportunity to have tuition fees covered, eligibility to receive a training subsidy in the amount of $125 per week to help cover the costs of transportation, housing, childcare while in a training program, and access to a dedicated team to help program participants create an individual employment plan with connections to available job opportunities.

The RISE Employment & Training Program is also seeking partner employers to connect with program participants for employment, internships, apprenticeships, on-the-job training and paid work-experience.
