1. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis doubled down on Disney paying taxes after he signed a bill into law earlier this month that will dissolve the theme parks’ self-government, known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District. DeSantis also said during a Fox News town hall on Thursday that more legislation is on the way to deal with what will come after lawmakers voted to get rid of Reedy Creek. (Click Orlando)

2. Two Florida teens were shot after a man said he caught them trying to break into his car, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said. According to the sheriff's office, at around 2 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the 2000 block of Martinwood Drive in reference to shots fired. The two teens were taken to the hospital. 3. The city of Orlando says it is cracking down on a growing number of tent cities popping up in Downtown Orlando, amid record rising rent prices and homelessness. Fencing and improved lighting have been put in place to keep people from camping in nearby parking lots. The city also said it is sending people daily into the area to offer services and job opportunities to try to get people off the streets. (WFTV)

4. The owner of two helicopters that crashed on the same day into Lake Apopka has offered an explanation for the back-to-back accidents. Owner, Greg Clubbs, says both pilots were flying low and spraying the lake with herbicide to help control the spread of invasive plants and the calmness of the lake caused them to crash. Clubbs says neither pilot has reported serious injuries. (WESH)

5. Several Ivanhoe Village-based businesses will host a special community cleanup on Lake Ivanhoe on Sunday, May 1. The cleanup event will be hosted by Boutiq Medical Clinic, The Pinery, and Epic Paddle Adventures from 9 a.m. to noon with check-in at the Lake Ivanhoe Boat Dock. (Bungalower)

  • MISSING & ENDANGERED: On April 25, Tanayris Negron-Mantilla was reported missing by her mother. She is possibly traveling with her 11-month-old baby, Katalina, in a 2016 Gray Toyota Camry, 4-door sedan. Her mom says Tanayris is in need of her medication. (Facebook)
  • Orlando Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division attended the Victim Service Network Banquet and Breakfast recently for National Crime Victims Rights Week. (Facebook)
