1. Walt Disney World has earmarked nearly 80 acres of land close to its theme parks to build more than 1,300 units specifically for cash-strapped Floridians. Disney did not say how much it might cost to live at its affordable housing development, however, it said more details about the project will be released at a later date. (Orlando Patch)

2. Casselberry Folk Fest happens Saturday, April 9, at Lake Concord Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The show is free to all. Food vendors and local artisans will be on-site as well so bring cash. (Orlando Weekly)

3. An Osceola County high school employee is facing a child abuse charge on allegations of slamming a student to the ground after the teen used the N-word in the classroom, deputies said. 26-year-old Chris Ferguson of Tohopekaliga High School in Kissimeee was arrested Monday by deputies. 4. City of Orlando residents can order up to two free trees from the city of Orlando in honor of Earth Day, April 22. Residents who live within the city limits can order through the Energy-Saving Trees Program and can select eastern red cedar, lacebark elm, maple or tulip poplar. (Orlando Weekly)

5. SunRail and Brightline are teaming up to extend the rail service through Orlando to Tampa, which would include the station near Walt Disney World. Rep. Darren Soto tweeted Wednesday afternoon that a deal had been reached to connect workers and tourists from the SunRail to the airport, Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, Sea World, I-Drive, and the Brightline to Tampa.
