Universal Studios To Close Rides, Make Room For New Attractions

Fievel's Playland and Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster are among the attractions slated to close at the Orlando theme park.

ORLANDO, FL — Several rides and attractions at Universal Studios Florida will close in January in order to make room for new entertainment options slated for the park, Universal Orlando Resort announced this week.

"Universal Orlando Resort will soon begin work on bringing exciting new family entertainment to Universal Studios Florida that will immerse guests in the adventures of beloved animated characters," the park said in a statement.

To make room for the new additions, Fievel's Playland, Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster, Curious George Goes To Town, DreamWorks Destination, and Shrek and Donkey's Meet & Greet will close on Jan. 16.

The last day of operation will be Jan. 15, according to resort officials.

E.T. Adventure, Animal Actors On Location, SpongeBob StorePants and KidZone Pizza Company will remain open, resort officials said.
