1. An Orange County commissioner is looking to stop soaring rents by putting a referendum to cap rent increases on November's ballot. Renters are facing double digit increases at the moment with no end in sight as Florida booms with new residents. Commissioner Bonilla says the average rent increase is 30% for Orange County residents. (WESH)

2. Zymarium Meadery is opening in Mills 50 in the former home of Say It Loud design agency, the Orange Studio. The 6,000-square foot space will feature a large bar and taproom area, a production area, and space for special events. It is expected to open later this year. (Bungalower)

3. Orange-Osceola State Attorney Monique Worrell launched the Ninth Judicial Circuit’s first-ever Adult Civil Citation Program on Friday. The 90-day pilot program will "seek to resolve first-time misdemeanor offences with civil citations, educational programs and community service in place of criminal charges," according to the state attorney’s office. 4. The owners of Jeff’s Bagel Run, Jeff and Danielle Perera, officially announced on Friday that they will be opening a second location of the bagel shop in Orlando's College Park neighborhood. It will take over the space left by Belanger Bagels at 4339 Edgewater Drive, which closed on February 28, due to the owner being diagnosed with cancer. (Click Orlando)

5. Winter Park police released body-camera footage on Wednesday that shows the moments leading up to and after a deadly shooting at a wedding in February. 39-year-old Daniel Knight was shot and killed by police at his niece's wedding on February 19 after a call was made reporting an "irate" and "violent" guest, according to police.   • The Hometown Heroes Alliance charity raises money for wounded first responders. Its 3rd Annual Golf Tournament is on April 23, and you can sign up to play. All proceeds will help injured law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs & their families. (Twitter)
